Literacy

As for literacy, programmes launched by Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity are designed in total collaboration with local associations.

This is the case for Al Hoceima and its region, wherein the population follow-up has been well perceived, especially among young women in rural areas who have been massively involved in the literacy programme targeting 10.000 beneficiaries from 30 douars in Al Hoceima.

Such programme is carried out to serve 25-person groups.

The programme has further been meant to train beneficiaries on craft industry professions (couture, pottery…), promote health and legal awareness, and provide social aid for beneficiaries, through the creation of 4 women centers in the region.

Entirely financed by Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the 5 million MAD programme has been realized in partnership with Al Manal Association for Women Animation, Women Forum Association, Massirate Annour Literacy Association, Touya Association of Women Action concerned communes and the Ministry of National Education delegation, which be in charge training of organizers and supervisors from the area, as well as literacy programmes and manual and classrooms material in schools.

In Al Haouz province, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has realized an important literacy and training programme for women in rural areas; such programme is based upon the social structures created by the Foundation in the frame of the integrated development plan carried out for the region, including diverse project to provide access to basic services and income generating activities.

The aforementioned structures include women training centers across eight rural communes and douars (Ain Jdid, Agadir-Tassaoute, Tnin Ourika, Tamazourte, Touama, Issers, Tafga and Ighi).

Women who benefit from such programme receive training on diverse activities germane to couture and embroidery, as well as occasional literacy classes.

In 2008, the Foundation has launched a new literacy programme for all women who have benefited from the aforementioned services spanning members of cooperative created by the Foundation together with beneficiaries from actions carried out by associations across the region.

To better carry out such programme, which costs about 5 million MAD and whose execution needs a couple of years, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has joined Grand Atlas Association, one of the most important partners in the region, to run such huge programme to cover, at a first phase, 5000 women.
