Micro credit

Micro credit has turned out to be a powerful tool for the development of income-generating activities. It has made it possible for vulnerable populations to achieve social and economic integration through their own efforts and resourcefulness.

To make it possible for a larger number of people to benefit from small loans, the Foundation decided to support the actors involved in micro credit to help them develop their activities and give a chance to beneficiaries to carry out their projects and achieve their own social and economic integration.

In keeping with instructions by His Majesty the King, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has, in collaboration with micro credit stakeholders in Morocco, achieved the following:

  • Set up a center to support solidarity-based microfinance, which was inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on 8 November, 2007, on the occasion of the start of the 10th National Solidarity Campaign. His Majesty the graciously gave his name to the said center.
The center will seek to promote small loans, contribute to the associations’ staff training, provide assistance to project holders and encourage the marketing of small business products.
  • Provide financial assistance to partner micro credit associations to help them finance their development programs.
