Launched on 16 December following High Royal Instructions in response to an exceptional cold wave, the Foundation has completed the intensive phase of the “Extreme Grand Cold” Operation – Winter 2025. This large-scale humanitarian mobilization ensured the rapid and secure delivery of aid to populations most vulnerable to severe winter conditions.
Starting 18 December, the Foundation deployed a flexible and robust logistics network coordinated from the capitals of the nine most affected provinces, including El Haouz, Azilal, Khénifra, Taroudant, Tinghir, Midelt, and Chichaoua. Strategic logistics hubs were established to streamline the flow of aid toward gathering points in high-altitude mountainous areas. These locations include remote and hard-to-reach rural douars, often situated several hours from provincial centers.
By 21 December, the operation was swiftly scaled up to cover 18 additional provinces across the Fès-Meknès, Oriental, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions. Within just eight days (18–25 December), the relief efforts reached a total of 27 provinces across seven regions, demonstrating an unprecedented capacity for rapid response and large-scale deployment.
Overall, 82,092 households received humanitarian assistance, including essential food supplies and blankets, totaling more than 2,800 tonnes of aid. Distribution efforts covered 1,941 douars across 159 municipalities, managed through a coordinated network of 267 distribution points.
The success of the operation was driven by seamless coordination among field stakeholders. The Foundation worked in close partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, supported by the dedicated on-the-ground efforts of social workers from the General Directorate of Social Services (DGSS) of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and local authorities, who facilitated the orderly delivery of aid.
Concurrently, the Ministry of Equipment played a decisive role by restoring road access to municipalities cut off by heavy snowfall—notably in Toubkal, Bouiblane, and Ouzighemt—enabling humanitarian convoys to reach their destinations safely.
Through this vital intervention, the Foundation Mohammed V for Solidarity reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable populations by delivering coordinated, responsive, and adaptive humanitarian action in the face of climate-related emergencies.
