HM King Mohammed VI launhed at the Ben M'Sik prefecture in Casablanca, the construction works of the "Second chance school", a solidarity-based project designed to offer out-of-school youth and children a chance of integration or reintegration into the education and school system.

Carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, this project testifies to the Sovereign’s special interest in the education sector, a strategic lever for the progress of society, and in young people, the real wealth of the Nation and the driving force behind its global and integrated development.

The first of its kind in the Kingdom, this school is part of a plan of action led by the Foundation and is meant, through academic support, cultural and sports activities and training in various areas, to protect children and young people from deviance and to contribute to their intellectual and physical development.

Worth 15 million dirhams, this project aims to provide young people - children from 12 to 20 years- with vocational training in various business areas for their successful socio-economic integration, in addition to integrating sport and music into the education system adopted by the Centre in order to help the beneficiaries to consolidate their willingness for reintegration and to develop their potential and skills.

The future education and training facility will be built within 15 months on 2,348 m2 of land in the "Jawadi" neighborhood. It will include building electricity, car repair and sewing workshops, an educational restaurant, music, sports and recreation areas, classrooms, a kitchen/refectory and other technical and administrative outbuildings.

This pilot project is the result of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the ministry of Youth and Sports, the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion, and the Regional Academy of Education and Training - Casablanca.
